Kindem, page 140, said that Jon was the f irst to be called Smor of the Smor family, and his seal is known from 1458. He may be the son of Ragnvald Urka, who was wit h King Haakon Haakonson in Scotland in 1263. Raunehaug said that Jon Ragnvald was the son of Ragnvald Jonson who wa s a fleet commander when King Hkon Hkonson went to war against Scotland in 1263, and that the son Jon was a knight a nd state counselor, and a powerful man in Norwegian politics.
